Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
1. Overview
MaskQ ("MaskQ", "we", "our", or "us"), a product of NeuralNest Solutions, is an anonymous group polling and survey app. This Privacy Policy explains what information MaskQ handles and how. The voting flow is designed to separate a member’s identity from their selections and show group results as aggregate counts and distributions.
This notice explains how information is handled. It does not replace any separate consent required by applicable law.
2. Information we handle
2.1 Information you provide
- Account and sign-in information. You sign in with your email address and password, or with a supported Google or Apple sign-in option where available. New email accounts are verified using a code sent to the email address. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure. We process your name, email, account identifiers, and a password hash for password-based accounts. A supported sign-in provider can supply its account identifier and available name or email details.
- Group and survey content. If you create a group or publish a survey, we store the group details and the survey questions and options you set. Questions are choice-based (single-select, multi-select, or 1-5 rating).
- Profile and preferences. We process profile details you choose to provide, such as a username, display name or profile image, together with timezone and notification preferences.
- Your votes. When you respond to a survey, your selection is recorded so it can be counted. It is recorded in a way designed to produce aggregate results only - it is not presented as tied to you or to your masked name.
2.2 Masked names (pseudonyms)
Within each group you participate using a group-specific masked name. Group membership and invitations are separate from voting: an organiser may already know the email addresses they invite. Masked names do not make your membership invisible. Survey results do not display individual choices tied to a member or masked name.
2.3 Technical information
Like most apps, MaskQ may process limited technical information needed to operate the service reliably and securely. This can include device identifiers, device platform and name, app version, session information, IP address, and approximate country or city derived from an IP address. When push notifications are enabled, device registration tokens are processed to deliver them. This information is not used to identify how you voted.
2.4 Support and feedback
If you contact support or use Send Feedback, we process the category, subject, message, and screenshots you choose to submit. Optional diagnostics can include device and app details. Feedback may be forwarded to the support ticketing service. Support messages are separate from anonymous survey responses; avoid including sensitive details about yourself or others.
3. How results are produced
Survey results are shown only as aggregates - counts and distributions across all responders. Individual responses are never displayed as belonging to a specific person or masked name.
- Small-group protection. Aggregate results are suppressed below a minimum responder threshold. Until enough people have responded, results are hidden so that a small group cannot be used to work out how an individual voted.
- Participation counts. A creator or admin may be able to see how many people have responded, but not how any individual responded.
- Deferred results. A creator may optionally choose to hide live results from members until a survey closes.
Repeated surveys in small groups. Our protections apply to each survey individually. When many surveys are run over the same small group over time, the combination of aggregate results can, in some cases, reduce the effective anonymity of an individual's overall pattern of responses.
4. How we use information
- To provide and operate MaskQ - signing you in, managing groups and invitations, running surveys, and computing aggregate results.
- To keep the service secure and working correctly.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not use your email or technical information to reveal or reconstruct how you voted.
5. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We may share information only in these limited situations:
- Within your groups. Group details, surveys, and aggregate results are visible to the relevant group members as part of the app's normal operation - always subject to the anonymity and small-group protections described above.
- Service providers. We may use third-party providers (for example, cloud hosting and email delivery) that process information on our behalf so the app can function. We share only the information providers need to perform their services and expect them to protect it appropriately.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required to do so by applicable law or valid legal process.
6. Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service - for example, while your account and groups are active - and as otherwise required for legitimate operational or legal reasons. The current account-deletion implementation deactivates the account, revokes sessions, and schedules the identity record for deletion after a 30-day grace period. A scheduled purge performs that deletion. Group membership and participation records are removed from active use; aggregate survey totals remain unchanged. Backups, support tickets, and security logs may be retained for separate operational, security, and legal needs. See our Delete Account page.
7. What we process, why, and for how long
The table below summarises the main categories of information we handle, the purpose, the legal basis, and how long we keep it.
| Category | Purpose | Legal basis | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account and email | Sign you in and authenticate you | Performance of our agreement with you (providing the service) | While active; the identity record is scheduled for purge after the 30-day deletion grace period |
| Group membership and per-group masked name (pseudonym) | Run groups and represent you within them | Performance of our agreement with you | While you are a group member; removed after you leave or delete your account |
| Has-voted ledger | Prevent double-voting; records that you responded, not what you chose | Our legitimate interest in survey integrity | Used to prevent repeat votes; removed from active use on account deletion. Backup copies may persist temporarily |
| Aggregate results | Show survey outcomes as counts and distributions | Performance of our agreement with you | Retained as part of a group's record; contains no personal identifiers |
| Audit and security logs | Keep the service secure and detect misuse | Our legitimate interest in security | Retained as needed for security and legal obligations |
We may use service providers for cloud hosting, email delivery, push notifications, and support ticketing. They process information only as needed to provide their services.
Cross-border transfers. MaskQ and its service providers may process information in countries other than yours. We use safeguards required by applicable privacy law for international transfers.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; receive it in a portable form (portability); correct it (rectification); have it deleted (erasure); restrict our processing of it (restriction); object to our processing (objection); and not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@neuralnestsolutions.com. We will handle requests under the procedures and deadlines that apply in your jurisdiction. You can delete your account at any time (see Delete Account). Because responses are stored as anonymous aggregates and not tied to your identity, individual votes cannot be identified and retrieved on request.
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection or privacy supervisory authority.
9. Children
MaskQ is intended for people aged 13 and older. A higher local minimum age or parental-consent requirement may apply; stricter local rules take precedence. If you believe a child under that age has provided us information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do, and significant changes will be communicated as appropriate.
